Here's something a mate wrote for another forum, thought it might help out..

Hey guys & gals,

I understand that not all of us were blessed in growing up during the uprising of computers so I thought I’d give you all a slightly more in-depth thread on why and how you need to upload your pictures.

These days with the technical advances with camera’s the pictures you can take just get better and better, this also means that there’s more pixels and therefore the image is stored larger by default.

To give you an understanding on this the most commonly used screen resolutions are either 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768.

I take most of my pictures with a Canon 350D which is a digital SLR and the pictures come out as 3456 x 2304 now math tells you that realistically this can’t fit in your display area, that would be correct so the first port of call would be to resize your images (if you need to)

There are many programs you can use to resize images, I am currently using a program called IrfanView very simple to use and it’s free!

Part two, the image needs a place to live because it wont be doing too much sat in a folder on your computer. Below is a list of free images hosting sites off the top of my head:

Next you need to upload a picture to your chosen site, as an example I’m going to use Photobucket.

Step one is to go to site, regiester and or log in, then creat an album.

Step two is to upload your images, click upload, then follow link and find your images on your computer and upload it.



Step three locate the images within the photobucket album and copy the URL, in photobucket just click the IMG bar and it will automatically copy the link



Step four paste the code for example;



Now to mention about the code you will notice that either side of the link to the image it has two specific tags the first being [img]and%20the%20second%20being[/img] the only different between these two is the “/” what this code is actually saying in basic terms is [This is where the image link starts] your link placed here [ / this is where the image link ends ].

Please also remember to hit return between lines otherwise your post will become very wide

Note: Not all image hosting sites will give you code already placed around the link, if this is the case you just copy the direct link to the image, past it where you want post your image, highlight just the link and click IMG.



Failing that you can always write them in anyways!
