What ya driving?: 2.0 5pot Santana - B6 Passat standard
Well,I've always wanted one and seen this pop up for sale a couple of times

both times it came up I didnt have the money - Mrs Lawsy without my knowin sent the seller a cheeky offer and he accepted...

So last night with much thanks to J-bizzle and itsa-dubthing ( i owe you one guys) we set off on a mini road trip!!

couple of hours later in the immense rain we arrived in the VR6 Passat at our destination..

Here she is in all her beauty!!!

The Santana!

Still yet to undergo Mrslawsy's naming process

Here's a couple of pictures from the advert - I'll get some proper ones up soon

you know you love it when i get another Neil :D :D :D :D :D :D

and yes it does need slamming - all in good time tho!!!!!

Car cul was staying as a car cull - for the insurance with footman james I have to have 3 motors for the multicar..

Wendy had agreed I could add to a wishlist and the santana was on it - this one came up and she sorted it for me at a very very good price.. :D

needs a little work but as funds are low - only time will allow - but i think its a keeper - i love driving it, it feels small, but yet so big...

Just been a little drive - cars about 20 miles off 130k now - so that should work out about right when i get to Crazyquiffs to get the cam belt done..

Splutters over 3k/hard acceleration so i think timings a little off - bit of work tomorrow neil if you reading this..

Anyways - went just down road and tooka few better pics...

so here you go!!!

As we can see there's a bit of scabbyness around the rear arches and rear side panels

there's also some around the boot area - otherwise looks pretty clean...

So todays trip to wallingford went well..

Cruised up to crazyquiffs - or should i say spluttered up there - misjudged the mileage tho and passed this on the way..

Image
Image

Wante dto get there at 130000 , but was 3 miles over - oh well..

So today Neil with a little help from me changed..

Cam belt full kit
Fan Belt
Oil filter and oil
air filter
Dizzy cap - after marking up firing order - see pics..
Rear brake cylinder
fitted 3 prong spark plugs
We tried to order a rotor arm to be told they are obsolete - so had a rummage around crazyquiffs stores and found one.. amazing what they have in the used parts section there!! - perfect fit and in decent condition too..
Also tried to order HT leads but were sent wrong ones along with power steering belt - luckily enough the old ones are fine..

We also gave the old girl a good going over, underneath she is suprisingly solid, hardly any issues at all.. Well chuffed - even Neilsaid it was a good solid honest car..

The cam belt was a bit of a bitch to change, front bumper has to come off, plus a few other bits too..

Neil had a good look over rest of car and whilst waiting for the parts to arrive I cracked out a grinder and some stone chip and tackled some of the bubbled up paint - found it was literally that and fairly solid - so grinded back to good metal, treated rest - filled and stonechipped... only really had time to do one side - but its a start!!
I also treated the plastics to some back to black remedies (cheap tyre black, but it works)

Image

We then got car back together, checked everything and I took it for a run..

it burbed into life - AWESOME - the 5 pot sounds amazing now its running well - no misfire, no backfire.. pulls well and the auto box is smooth!!

quick clean up in the engine bay - topped up the washer bottle (check out the size of it too!!!) - it was over half full and still took about 6 litres - its massive!!

Then i drove her home.. so smooth - gave it beans ina few places to and she picks up well considering her bulk and age..

Arrived home - showing Mrslawsy what we've acheived and after a reading another post jumped in the boot!!!
and for those of you who havemet me - you know how huge this boot must be!!

LOL
